RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Even though in prison, Lula may receive the title of Honorary Citizen of Paris in the next few days.
The mayor of Paris, socialist Anne Hidalgo, should grant Lula the title of Honorary Citizen of the city in coming days. She received a proposal from the Paris City Council (Conseil), which she presides over.
Among the reasons, the body considers Lula's struggle for human rights, social justice, the protection of the environment, "values shared by the city of Paris and which have put the politician in danger for his commitment."
