Marília Mendonça in Emotional Farewell Performance before Career Pause

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Marília Mendonça, 24, starred in an exciting farewell show on Saturday’s evening, November 30th to Sunday, December 1st, in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul State.

Eight months pregnant, the singer announced that this would be her last performance for a long time, so she could prepare for the baby’s arrival and then devote herself to him.

After months of flirting with the idea of a pause, the announcement did not specify how long she would be away from the stage. On several occasions, Mendonça had remarked that she would eventually have to put music on the back burner in order to devote herself to her first child, Leo.

The live farewell was matched by an emotional message published on social media. Next to a picture of her crying at the show, she wrote a large text in which she laments having to stop “at the peak of her career”.

“When I was 12 years old, I had my heart broken for the first time. There I thought I was going to die. It happened again at 14 and so on. I didn’t know what love was and I was already convinced, that if I were to die, it would be because of it,” she wrote to the sound of “Pra Você Guardei o Amor,” according to her.

“When I started to go on stage four years ago, I felt myself dying again for the love that I thought I knew, this time it was stronger. The road loved me, applauded me, became my friend, gave me a family, gave me conditions to take care of my own, provided me with a bunch of nice people loving me without knowing me, fulfilled my dreams, got me sick, tired me, made me cry, hurt me, took me to heaven and threw me to the ground many times, provided me with a bunch of people who do not like me without knowing me and today I am missing it all without me having left yet,” she continued.

“Only God knows how much I was made for this because I don’t even know myself. After thinking that nothing would be greater than this love, I came across the craziest news of my life. Not even in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that I would feel something this strong. God sent the greatest feeling in the world as a gift, to show me that if I hadn’t died of love yet, the time had come. I am taking a break at my peak, literally”.

“The peak of my love, the peak of my life, the peak of my happiness, the peak of my growth as a woman, the peak of my maturing. You thought I was talking about success, didn’t you? You got it right. How could I not be successful having my great love in my womb, when I can already hear signs of his arrival?”
