Montevideo is Most Expensive Latin American City for Expatriates

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Uruguayan capital, Montevideo, is the most expensive city in Latin America for expatriates to live in, according to the 25th Annual Cost of Living Survey, conducted by Mercer, which measures about 500 cities in over 200 countries. Montevideo was in 70th place in the ranking, above European capitals such as Madrid (Spain) and Lisbon (Portugal).

The survey evaluates factors such as housing, food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, personal care (hygiene), transportation, domestic services, recreation, and entertainment.
