Moro Warned Bolsonaro He Would Quit If Federal Police Director-General Was Fired

Bolsonaro's initial intention was to announce the name of Valeixo's replacement on Friday, April 24th; however, early that day Moro announced his resignation as Justice Minister.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - One day after being advised by Jair Bolsonaro that the Federal Police command would be changed, the Minister of Justice, Sérgio Moro, warned the President that he would resign if the removal of the Director-General of the Federal Police, Mauricio Valeixo, were to be confirmed.

At 11 AM Friday, Minister Moro held a press conference where he confirmed that Valeixo had nor voluntarily resigned, but had been fired, and that he (Moro) had tendered his resignation as Minister of Justice.
