Ordinance Raises Shopping Limit for Those Crossing Brazil’s Border by Land

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The limit on tax-free purchases for those crossing the Brazilian border by land or river will increase from US$300 to US$500 per person as of January 1st, 2020.

Finance Ministry Ordinance No. 601 - published in yesterday's edition of the Federal Gazette - raises the limit.

Last month, President Jair Bolsonaro had already announced that he would increase the limit, which should benefit those crossing the Brazilian border with Paraguay, for instance.
