Bolsonaro to Meet PSL Deputies Today, May Leave to Join New Political Party

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The only obstacle to the foundation of the new party is the identification of digital signatures. Should the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) acknowledge the signatures, the new party, which will include Bolsonaro and his sons, will be in a position to collect the signatures that are required for the party to be formally recognized by March 2020, which would enable it to dispute the municipal elections to be held in October.

A meeting on Tuesday, November 12th, at 4 PM at the Planalto Palace is expected to seal the fate of President Jair Bolsonaro‘s party. He may, therefore, announce his exit from the PSL, depending on the meeting. All deputies elected by the party will attend, except those who are disengaged from the president, such as Joice Hasselmann and the party’s president, Luciano Bivar.
