“Brazil is at Rock Bottom Because of Economists,” Says Bolsonaro

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – President Jair Bolsonaro said that Brazil is at rock bottom because of economists, not because of him. “Brazil is at rock bottom due to economists, not to Captain Jair Bolsonaro,” he said on Monday morning, August 2nd.

Bolsonaro was asked about the forecast of a primary deficit of R$124.1 billion (US$31 billion) in 2020, compared to the forecast of Minister Paulo Guedes in the campaign to eliminate the deficit in 2019.

“Question for Paulo Guedes, I do not mention anything about the economy (in my campaign). Nothing. Zero,” he said. “Citing a former PT president, it was stated that the manœuvres of Dilma Rousseff blew Brazil to pieces.

It’s not the first time he’s attacked so called “economists, without explaining what he means by that.

Then president-elect Bolsonaro said on November 19th, in an interview in Rio de Janeiro, that “…it was the economists who screwed Brazil. But I have common sense and I know what the people want at the end of the day…”
