Accused Deputy Flordelis Offered Daughter to Evangelical Pastors for Sex, Says Witness

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A statement taken from the investigation that points to Federal Deputy Flordelis as the principal in the murder of her husband, Pastor Anderson do Carmo, shows that the deputy had offered one of the couple’s adopted daughter to foreign pastors.

“(The witness) recalls that at a certain time (the relatives) were visited by foreign Pentecostal pastors. (…) The witness recalls that, as a welcome to such pastors, (one of the daughters) was sexually offered to them. Flordelis was the one who made the offer.”

Witnesses also report sexual intercourse between Anderson and an adopted daughter, in addition to nights at “swing houses”. According to the report, there is a “complete dissociation between the created image and the practices of the family group.”

“The witness recalls that [pastor] Anderson (…) with Flordelis’s permission (…) related sexually” with one of their adopted daughters, who “did not like this situation but obeyed” her mother.

The principal of the crime

According to the Civil Police and the Rio Prosecutor’s Office, Flordelis had her husband killed for financial reasons and power in the family — — the pastor controlled all the money from the Flordelis Ministry, now renamed the Comunidade Evangélica Cidade do Fogo (Evangelical Community City of Fire).

On Monday, eight people were arrested for their involvement in the crime during Operation Lucas 12.

Flordelis was not arrested because of legislative privilege — arrest of sitting legislators is only possible when the offence charged is not subject to bail.

According to the police, before the shooting, Flordelis began trying to kill her husband in May 2018, by adding arsenic to his food.

The arrest warrants were issued by the 3rd Criminal Court of Niterói, which accepted the Prosecutor’s Office indictment and made Flordelis a defendant.
