Brazil’s Government Suspends Use of Mobile Radars on Federal Highways

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - President Jair Bolsonaro ordered the suspension of the use of mobile speed cameras on federal highways. The order was published on Thursday, August 15th, in the Federal Gazette and was issued by the Ministry of Justice, responsible for the Federal Highway Police (PRF).

The order does not specify when the measure comes into force, but Bolsonaro said on Thursday that the suspension would become effective on Monday, August 19th.

The G1 news site questioned the PRF and the ministries of Justice and Infrastructure on when the suspension will actually begin but did not get a response . . .
