Brazil’s Cabinet Security Chief Tests Positive for Coronavirus

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Wednesday morning, March 18th, the Chief Minister of the Security Cabinet, General Augusto Heleno, confirmed that he is infected with the Covid-19. On Twitter, Jair Bolsonaro‘s high-ranking government official said he is waiting for the counter-check test result.

“I would like to report that the result of my second test, carried out at the HFA, was positive. I’m waiting for the counter-check test result from FioCruz. I am fever-free and have no symptoms related to COVID-19. I am isolated, at home, and I will not take any phone calls,” the general published.

The Minister was part of the delegation that joined President Jair Bolsonaro to the United States. With Augusto Heleno, there are now 16 persons infected by COVID-19 close to the president.
