Rio Grande do Norte is Granted R$84.6 Million Federal Funds for Health Services

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The primary and hospital care of 51 municipalities in the State of Rio Grande do Norte will be allocated R$84.6 million (US$21.2 million) by the Ministry of Health to expand its services to the population. The funds will be used to purchase equipment, build, refurbish, and expand health units, as well as reinforce the cost of urgent and emergency services.

The announcement was made Friday, August 16th, by Health Minister Luiz Henrique Mandetta, in the state’s capital Natal. “It is necessary to gather as many federative entities as possible. And president Jair Bolsonaro asked me personally: go to the Northeast, go to Rio Grande do Norte. Give them my regards and take them my message. This country needs to be rebuilt in all its policies. Health is one of them, and perhaps the one closest to the citizen and the one that has the most impact on the daily lives of families,” he said.

Governor Fátima Bezerra expressed her gratitude for the federal government’s attention to Rio Grande do Norte and mentioned the significance of the partnership in financial transfers for the maintenance and organization of health in the state. “What a wonderful achievement this is. The release of funds to Rio Grande do Norte will undoubtedly contribute to ease the situation we find in this state, improve health, and help the reorganization of health services in the state, which is our main goal,” she said.
