Sérgio Moro not Contemplating Running for Elective Office in 2022
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Justice Minister Sérgio Moro said he believes it is unlikely that he will run for any public elective office in future, but stressed that he “would never run against President Jair Bolsonaro”.

In an interview with SBT’s program Poder em Foco (Power in Focus), shown this morning, Moro was asked if he might have any electoral intentions.
“I was invited to join Jair Bolsonaro’s government, I am Minister of Justice, carrying out this job within the scope of government policy. The president expressed the desire to seek reelection; if this really happens, of course, I have a duty of loyalty. I don’t have this party-political profile,” Moro said.
When asked if he could see himself in any public office in a future election, Moro said he doesn’t see the possibility at the moment, but he doesn’t rule it out for the future.
“I think it’s unlikely now and the future is distant. Now, of course, I would never run against President Bolsonaro. If he is really a candidate for reelection, but as they say, there is nothing wrong with politics, politics is one of the loftiest activities, you need to have a certain profile,” he said.
