Project That Expands Gun Possession in Brazil’s Rural Areas is Sanctioned

According to the bill approved by the Legislature, the possession of a weapon is authorized over the entire area of rural property. Till now, possession was only allowed in or near the dwelling area.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - President Jair Bolsonaro sanctioned on Tuesday, September 17th, Bill 3.715/19, which extends the possession of weapons on rural properties.

The measure was approved by the House of Representatives on August 21st. Bolsonaro confirmed the sanction directly from the Alvorada Palace, where he spoke on the first day of work, after a temporary leave from office to have an abdominal hernia repair surgery, which occurred on September 8th . . .
