Safras consultancy projects lower corn supply for Brazil in 2021

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil’s corn supply should reach 103.998 million tons in the 2021 harvest, according to an estimate by Safras & Mercado consultancy, released on Monday, May 31. The volume is below the 117.374 million tons available last season.

Production is estimated at 95.236 million tons for 2021, below the 106.833 million tons recorded in the last harvest.

Corn exports are projected at 23.9 million tons, a lower volume than the 34.856 million tons shipped in the 2020 harvest.

Imports are also expected to be lower. A total of 2.25 million tons are expected, exceeding the 1.452 million tons bought abroad during the 2020 harvest.

Ending stocks for the 2021 harvest are estimated at 3.709 million tons, below the 6.512 million tons of the 2020 harvest.
