Survey: Brazilians place most value on vaccination in the world

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to the survey, the rate of Brazilians who consider it important to keep vaccination up to date reached 83%.

Vaccination is valued by 67% of Canadians; 65% of Italians; and 64% of Japanese.

The Covid-19 pandemic has increased the value placed on vaccination among Brazilians. Before the pandemic, 59% considered it important to keep this practice up to date, a rate that jumped to 83% after the arrival of the novel coronavirus.

Among Brazilians interviewed, 49% advocate more information about immunization, with explanations about which vaccines are recommended by health authorities, for what reasons and its benefits.

The increase in the importance of the role of vaccination also occurred in other countries with the pandemic. In Italy, the rate increased from 32% to 65% between the period before and after the pandemic. In Japan, it went from 30% to 64%.

Some 16,000 people over 50 years of age in Brazil, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, the United States, and Canada were interviewed in July and August for the survey on immunization.

Brazilians were also the ones who most emphasized the importance of health and well-being, at 85%. Next in line were the Italians, with 84%, and the Germans, with 80%.

Among the Brazilians interviewed, 88% reported having had routine checkups in the last 5 years.

The survey shows a gender difference as to the relevance of health. In the group of respondents from all countries, concern was mentioned by 81% of women and 71% of men.
