Total indebtedness in Brazil rises 1.2% in May – Central Bank

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The total indebtedness of the financial system in Brazil increased 1.2% in May compared to the previous month, to R$4.178 trillion, equivalent to 52.7% of the Gross Domestic Product, reported the Central Bank on Monday, June 28.

In May, the default rate in unsecured debt increased to 3.0%, from 2.9% in April. The average bank spread in the same segment was 21.7 percentage points, down from 22.4 points in the previous month . . .
