Tourism Dollar Reaches R$5.11 in São Paulo; Euro up to R$5.75; Pound at R$6.71

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - For anyone traveling and looking to buy foreign currency at exchange brokers, the value is much higher than the commercial dollar rate quoted by Brazil's Central Bank.

In exchange houses in São Paulo, the dollar in cash cost R$4.89 yesterday, including IOF (Tax on Financial Operations). For anyone buying with a prepaid card, the price is even higher: R$5.11.
