RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – If English fluency is a prerequisite for being an ambassador to the United States, Federal Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of President Jair Bolsonaro, doesn’t seem to be ready for the job.
An official from the US government, who met with Eduardo during his visit to Washington in November last year, said the deputy’s English is poor.
“The US officials – who attended a meeting with Eduardo in November last year in Washington – said they found it difficult to pursue the conversation in English and volunteered to proceed in Spanish, should the deputy prefer.
“It didn’t work either, it carried on in Portunhol,” said journalist Raquel Krähenbühl, a Globo correspondent at the White House.
