RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Brazil continued to record the highest number of Covid-19 deaths globally, with 26.7% of the global total, in the week ending April 11. However, deaths in the country due to the disease declined 3% from the previous week.
A new assessment by the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that the pandemic killed an additional 76,773 people worldwide last week. The highest number of new deaths was in Brazil, with 20,512, or 9.7 new deaths per 100,000 inhabitants (the ratio was 3.5/100,000 in mid-February).
