WHO Raises Coronavirus Level of Global Contagion to “Very High”
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The World Health Organization (WHO) reported on Friday, February 29th, that the worldwide spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19) has worsened and is at a “very high level”. The main US financial indices have suffered sharp drops due to the fear that it will spread and generate a recession in the world economy.
In Europe, the stock markets opened in the red on Friday.

Brazil, on the other hand, is investigating at least 182 suspected cases, the Ministry of Health reported on Friday. According to the Brazilian government, 71 suspected cases have already been ruled out.
The only case of an infected person in the country is still that of a 61-year-old man living in São Paulo who had been in Italy between February 9th and 21st and was hospitalized after presenting symptoms of the disease.
