Argentina experienced an accelerated increase in Covid-19 cases in April and May, with a high level of occupancy of beds in intensive care units. However, the upward curve of positives began to ease in June after the imposition of new sanitary restrictions.

While seeking to leave behind the second wave of covid-19, Argentina, with some 45 million inhabitants, continues with its vaccination campaign against the coronavirus, which began at the end of last December, hoping to complete the inoculation scheme in August as many people as possible.

According to official data released today, 34.99 million doses have been applied so far. A total of 26.20 million people received the first dose of the vaccine, while 8.7 million people have already been inoculated with the second dose.

Argentina started to combine vaccines from different laboratories due to delays in the arrival of vaccines with the second component of Sputnik V, which for the time being, will be substituted with those developed by Moderna and AstraZeneca.

Last Monday, the country received 400,000 doses of Sputnik V component 2 in a flight from Moscow, and 500 liters of the antigen for local production by Richmond Laboratories are expected to arrive during the week.
