Bolsonaro says “tyrants” are “tightening the noose” and “seizing people’s freedom”

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The widespread narrative of the West regarding Covid-19 and the proper measures to combat it, remain at odds with what Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro believes.

In a speech to supporters crowded outside the Alvorada Palace this Sunday, March 21st, President Jair Bolsonaro said that some "tyrants are curtailing the freedom of many of you" and that "if anyone thinks that we will ever give up our freedom, they are wrong." He did not directly mention governors and mayors who have decreed restrictive measures because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
