Brazil again records lowest daily number of Covid-19 deaths this year (September 5)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This Sunday (September 5), Brazil recorded the lowest number of Covid-19 deaths in a single day this year: 266 deaths in 24 hours. The previous lowest number was recorded on August 30, when 286 victims of coronavirus were reported. This is the lowest figure since December 30, 2020.

With the update of deaths, the moving average of deaths caused by the disease decreased again, reaching 617.14, after recording a slight increase on Saturday (4/9), when the indicator was 621.71.

Compared to the rate reviewed two weeks ago, there is a decrease of 19.34%, indicating a decrease in the number of deaths. It is the 14th consecutive day that the trend continues.

In the last 24 hours, 266 deaths and 12,915 new infections were reported nationwide. These data are included in the latest tally from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass).

In total, Brazil has already lost 583,628 people to the disease and has counted 20,890,779 cases of infection.

According to Statista, the leading German company specializing in market and consumer data, Brazil ranks seventh in Latin America for deaths per million in the last seven days. It is better positioned than Cuba, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Paraguay and Argentina. Worldwide, it ranks 29th.
