Brazil registers 19,438 new cases and 699 Covid deaths (September 24)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil on Friday reported 699 new deaths from Covid-19, bringing the total number of fatalities from the disease in the country to 593,663, the Health Ministry said.

There were also 19,438 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 21,327,616, the ministry added.

The federal government still reports 407,545 Covid-19 patients in follow-up.

According to Statista, the leading German company specializing in market and consumer data, Brazil ranks eight in Latin America for deaths per million in the last seven days. It is better positioned than Cuba, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay, and Argentina. Worldwide, it ranks 37th.
