RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Brazil on Thursday reported 1,318 new deaths from Covid-19, bringing the total number of fatalities from the disease in the country to 554,497, the Health Ministry said.
There were also 42,283 new cases of coronavirus reported, bringing the total of confirmed infections in the country to 19,839,369.
According to Statista, the leading German company specializing in market and consumer data, Brazil ranks fifth in Latin America for deaths per million in the last seven days. It is better positioned than Colombia, Paraguay, Cuba, and Argentina.
