Brazil registers 9,154 new cases and 182 Covid deaths (September 6)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil recorded 182 new Covid-19 deaths on Monday, the lowest daily number of deaths from the disease since November last year, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Traditionally the numbers of cases and deaths from Covid-19 show a drop on Sundays and Mondays due to the damming of tests on weekends, but still, the number of deaths this Monday is the lowest since the 140 recorded on November 15.

With these additional deaths, the total number of fatalities from the disease in the country has reached 583,810, according to ministry data.

There were also 9,154 new cases of coronavirus -the lowest number since November 2-with the total number of infections in the country advancing to 20,899,933, the ministry added.

The moving average of daily deaths over the past 14 days reached 640 on Monday, compared with a peak of nearly 3,000 in April.

The federal government still reports 421,463 Covid-19 patients in follow-up.

According to Statista, the leading German company specializing in market and consumer data, Brazil ranks seventh in Latin America for deaths per million in the last seven days. It is better positioned than Cuba, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Paraguay, and Argentina. Worldwide, it ranks 29th.
