Brazil’s pandemic map: Goiás once again has regions in calamity for Covid

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to the State Health Secretariat’s (SES-GO) Recommendation Map updated on Friday, September 24, the regions of Entorno Norte and São Patrício I are back in the red zone – the most severe among the three classifications.

According to the SES-GO map, there are 2 regions in a calamity situation – in the red zone -, two in critical – orange – and 14 in an alert situation – yellow.

The survey is done by region and assessed on infection and health system overburden indicators.

According to the SES-GO, the index is based on 6 indicators, 3 of which are related to the infection situation by the novel coronavirus and 3 are related to the health system overload situation (including public and private units).

The registration of 2 regions in the red zone represents a worsening of the Covid-19 scenario in the state, as the map had no regions in this classification in the past two weeks. On September 13, for the first time, the state had all of its 18 regions out of the calamity zone.

To date, Goiás counts 855,673 confirmed Covid-19 cases, of which 822,028 are classified as recovered. There are also 23,342 deaths as a result of the disease, with the mortality rate at 332 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.
