The loss of effectiveness against hospitalization for Pfizer was especially pronounced: it dropped from 91% between 14 and 120 days after vaccination to 77% more than 120 days after vaccination. On the other hand, Moderna dropped from 93% to 92% when comparing the same two periods.

The study also included a separate analysis of the vaccines’ levels of different types of antibodies collected from 100 volunteers.

Moderna’s vaccine produced higher antibodies levels than Pfizer’s and J&J’s for an essential part of the coronavirus “spike” protein, which is used to invade cells.
