Uruguay registers no deaths from Covid for the first time in 2021 (August 7)

Health authorities have even approved a booster dose of the Pfizer immunizer for those who have already received two injections of Coronavac from the Chinese laboratory Sinovac.
The excellent immunization rates follow the sharp drop in the number of cases, deaths, and intensive care hospitalizations seen since June. The country counted 1,619 active cases on Saturday, a sharp drop from the peak at the end of May when there were 37,000 people hospitalized with the disease.
After remaining for several weeks as the country with the most deaths per day in relation to its population, with a record 79 deaths on April 15, the average has been three deaths per day in the last seven days.
