Vaccination Rate in Brazil Almost Five Times Faster Than New Daily Cases

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Vaccination in Brazil is only just beginning, but the pace is encouraging in relation to the number of new cases per day. The latest update of a Bloomberg website survey of immunization rates around the world shows that the daily dose rollout average in the country has reached 231,695.

The total is almost five times higher than the rolling average of new daily cases of Covid-19. On Thursday, February 4th, the rolling average of cases in Brazil reached 48,229 – a figure less than one fifth of the number of people immunized.

The rolling average is estimated from the sum of the number of cases and deaths in the past seven days, divided by seven, the number of days considered – which enables a better assessment by offsetting daily record variations and sending of data by public health bodies, an issue that occurs mainly on weekends. The final figure, compared to the past weeks and months, provides a broader notion of an increase or decrease in contagion.

Compared to other world countries, Brazil also stands out. The country ranks seventh with the highest rolling average of vaccinated individuals. The United States is in the lead, with 1.3 million people attended daily on average. So far, over 108 million doses have been distributed on the planet and 2,961,816 Brazilians have been vaccinated by 6 PM on Thursday, February 4th.

The survey shows the vaccination situation in the 26 states and the Federal District with data from the Coronavirus Brazil website, corroborated by State Secretariats which provide daily data on their immunization process.
