Covid-19: Vivo, Mercedes and Vale launch mobile health post in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Vivo, Mercedes-Benz, Vale and Sociedade Beneficente Israelita Brasileira Albert Einstein have joined forces in a project to take medical care and health services to populations in several Brazilian states.  A fully equipped health center has been installed on the trailer of a Mercedes-Benz truck.

The first stop was Itabira, in Minas Gerais, where the truck was located on Thursday (26) and where it will remain for 90 days, serving patients referred by the city government.

Later, the truck will move on to other locations in the country. The center will provide Covid-19 tests and will treat patients with a mild form of the disease, as well as performing laboratory and diagnostic tests.

The project is supported by the German government, which invested €4.5 (US$5.3) million for the acquisition of 8 trucks.

Vivo will operate the real time transmission of tomography exams and the tests performed by the unit’s medical staff.
