RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Following the relaxations in air transportation and the reopening of the entry of foreigners and tourists into the country, the Ministry of Transportation, headed by Alexis Guerrera, recorded that the first week of November will see the arrival of 217 flights.

This figure was well above the 24 flights per week of the first week of July when more significant restrictions on the sector were in force. There are currently 22 airlines flying direct connections to 16 countries, including hubs.

Following the administrative decision published on November 1 in the Official Gazette with the reopening of the borders for the entry of passengers from any part of the world, there will be 217 international flights versus the 24 frequencies of the first week of July. This number of operations allows estimating between 5 to 8 thousand passengers per day in the first seven days of November, representing a significant reactivation of the sector in just a few days.

Regarding this scenario, the Minister of Transportation, Alexis Guerrera, expressed that “Ezeiza is very active with families and friends meeting again and with tourists arriving in the country thanks to this measure that also means a reactivation for thousands of Argentine men and women who are seeing their economic activity in motion. It has been a good first week of reopening, also in other airports”.

And he also emphasized: “This tourism is great news for long-distance transport, for hoteliers, for fairgrounds, gastronomic and many other sectors that are already seeing their activities reactivated”.

In the last few days, flights arrived from Madrid, Paris, Turkey, Switzerland, and Holland, among other countries. For example, on the morning of Thursday 4, between 9.00 and 9.30 a.m., three flights from Madrid, Paris, and Frankfurt arrived at Ezeiza International Airport.

They are comparing the airlines operating in the country when more restrictions were in force, today, almost twice as many companies are using regular international flights. Currently, in addition to Aerolíneas Argentinas, international flights are operated by Lufthansa, Boliviana de Aviación, JetSmart Chile, JetSmart Argentina, Latam Airlines, Latam Perú, Latam Brasil, Sky Airline, Avianca, American Airlines, Delta, United Airlines, Air Europa, Iberia, Air France, KLM, Aeroméxico, COPA Airlines, Paranair, Swiss Air, Turkish.

In addition, regular connectivity was increased with more countries with which air connections were reestablished, such as Germany, Spain, France, Holland, Mexico, Switzerland, Turkey, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, USA, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.

Measures such as the reopening of air transportation make it possible to start up and reactivate Argentina’s economic and tourism sector.
