Leftist Boric continues to lead in Chile’s electoral polls while Kast overtakes Sichel in second place
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The electoral polls for the next presidential elections in Chile continue to place the leftist candidate Gabriel Boric in the lead, with a slight lead over his competitors.
At the same time, the right-wing candidate José Antonio Kast has snatched second place from the pro-government Sebastián Sichel for the first round of the elections, scheduled for November 21.

Boric, candidate of the left-wing coalition Apruebo Dignidad, would obtain 22 percent of the votes. In comparison, the Republican Party candidate would get 15 percent of the votes, increasing two percentage points with respect to the last poll.

Despite the upturn shown by the polls -the Pulso Ciudadano poll published this Sunday also gave the second position to Kast-, the right-winger still has the highest rejection among all the presidential aspirants, with 30.1 percent of disapproval.
This would drop Sichel of Chile Vamos to third place with 12 percent of the vote, along with Christian Democrat Yasna Provoste, a drop of five points for the former and an increase of two points for the latter, according to the latest Cadem poll.
The poll has also looked beyond the respondents’ preferences to ask who they think will be the next tenant of La Moneda, to which 37 percent answered Boric, followed by Sichel with 17 percent and Provoste with 16 percent.
Finally, as for the current president, Sebastián Piñera, 71 percent of the citizens disapprove of his administration, as stated in the survey, compared to 22 percent who have a favorable view.
Nine presidential candidates have formally registered their candidacy for the Chilean elections scheduled for November 21.
