Colombia is first South American country to open its ports to cruise ships despite pandemic

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Colombia will be the first country in South America to revive the cruise industry after opening its ports to this activity.

As announced by the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, Maria Ximena Lombana Villalba, Windstar Cruises’ Star Breeze will be the first to call at the port of Cartagena.

The ship is currently on a 14-day tour that began in Barbados.

This luxury cruise ship will open the 2021 – 2022 season, with 123 arrivals booked for Cartagena alone. During the season, 212,517 transit passengers and 101,053 crew members are expected, for a total of 313,570 visitors.
