Over 16,000 People Arrested in Peru for Violating Social Distancing Rules

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Since social distancing measures have been enforced in Peru to contain the spread of the Covid-19; over 16,000 people have been arrested by the authorities.

However, given the large number of arrests, the Peruvian government is considering imposing fines on those who repeat this behavior.

Peruvian President Martín Vizcarra declared a state of emergency in Peru on March 15th and imposed mandatory overnight curfew, more specifically between 8 PM and 5 AM.
