Peru: Potential Presidential Candidates Participate in Primary Elections
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Potential presidential candidates on Sunday, November 29th, participated in their parties’ primary elections to select candidates for President of the Republic, Vice-Presidents, Congress members, and Peruvian representatives at the Andean Parliament.
Fuerza Popular (Popular Force) party leader and potential presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori voted in the morning and called on members of her party to participate in the electoral process.

On the other hand, Julio Guzman and Carolina Lizarraga —potential presidential candidates for Partido Morado (Purple Party)— cast their votes in the primary election of such political group to elect its candidates for 2021 general elections.
Likewise, Alianza para el Progreso-APP (Alliance for Progress) party leader Cesar Acuña —another potential presidential candidate— participated in the process, adding that he has done so to fulfill his responsibility as founder of the party.
Former President Ollanta Huma and members of the Partido Nacionalista’s (Nationalist Party) presidential ticket participated in their party’s primaries as well.
Other potential presidential candidates who voted in the preliminary elections included ex-legislators Edmundo del Aguila and Yonhy Lescano —of the political party Accion Popular (Popular Action)— as well as Nidia Vilchez of the Partido Aprista Peruano (APRA), among others.
Peru will hold General Elections on April 11, 2021.
