The head of the Peruvian Government denounces a “political-judicial persecution” against Perú Libre party
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The president of the Council of Ministers of Peru, Guido Bellido, has denounced this Friday a “political-judicial persecution” against his party, Peru Libre, and the general secretary of the party, Vladimir Cerrón.
In this sense, the Peruvian Prime Minister has regretted an “attempt to veto Peru Libre and imprison its leaders” for the crimes of “renegotiating gas, recovering oil, revising contracts law, a Constituent Assembly and a New Constitution”.

“We are ready to face them together with the people”, he announced through his account on the social network Twitter.

Controversy has been unleashed in Peru since the inauguration of the new government headed by Pedro Castillo. He has been accused from different sectors of belonging or sympathizing with the Shining Path guerrilla.
Just this Thursday, the Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Iber Maraví, answered seven questions before Congress regarding his alleged links with terrorist actions in the 1980s related to the Maoist guerrillas. Following his appearance in the chamber, the opposition filed a motion of censure.
However, earlier this week, Peruvian prosecutor Zoraida Avalos denied any persecution of the ruling party or its members. “It is false, the Public Prosecutor’s Office does not persecute anyone, we are neutral. There is no political persecution against Mr. Cerrón. I can say it categorically”, recalls ‘El Comercio’.
