Social Tensions Halve Chile’s Economic Growth in 2019

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The social uprisings hindered the Chilean economy's growth in 2019. The Central Bank is not due to release official figures before March, but it is estimated that GDP will grow by 1.2 percent in 2019, half of the annual 2.5 percent that was projected before the social explosion.

The 2019 performance will be the worst in the Chilean economy since 2009, when the Great Recession left . . .
