Social Tensions Halve Chile’s Economic Growth in 2019

The Central Bank has revised its 2019 increase in GDP downward from 2.5 to 1.2 percent, the worst result in ten years.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The social uprisings hindered the Chilean economy's growth in 2019. The Central Bank is not due to release official figures before March, but it is estimated that GDP will grow by 1.2 percent in 2019, half of the annual 2.5 percent that was projected before the social explosion.
