  • A Court ordered the return to in person work for judicial employees: The measure will apply to judges, clerks, and employees in federal and national courts as of October 20. Only immunocompromised individuals, oncology patients, and transplant recipients can continue to work remotely.
  • Amid the tensions with the police, a salary increase was announced for the force: the growth will be 11% net and will take place in October and November, which, together with the increases previously granted, will lead to an average salary increase of 46.5% in December 2020. “If there is money for graduation trips, there is money for better salaries,” some uniformed officials had demanded.
  • Uruguay has decided to offer tourists a vaccination against the coronavirus: It is a third dose or vaccine for people under 18, subject to the decision of the Ministry of Public Health. It will come into force on November 1, when the borders will be opened to all vaccinated foreigners.
