Venezuela accumulates 238,013 Covid-19 infections and 2,689 deaths (June 3)
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Venezuela added in the last 24 hours 1,258 new cases of Covid-19 and 15 deaths, bringing the total number of people who contracted the disease to 238,013 and deaths to 2,689, informed this Thursday the executive vice-president, Delcy Rodríguez.
The Presidential Commission for the Prevention and Control of Covid-19 reports that in the last 24 hours, a total of 1,258 new infections were detected in our country (1,255 cases of community transmission and 3 imported),” Rodríguez wrote in her Twitter account.

She explained that the state with the highest number of new cases is Falcón, 394, followed by Carabobo, which added 220 infected, Yaracuy with 170, and Zulia with 102. The remaining states all have below one hundred accumulated cases.
The deaths were recorded in Anzoátegui, with 3 deaths and Barinas, followed by Caracas, Mérida, Nueva Esparta, and Lara, with two deaths per state Lara, with only one death.
The Government assured that of the 238,013 infections registered since the beginning of the pandemic in March last year, 218,956 persons have already recovered (91.9%), so that currently, there are 16,368 active cases.
Venezuela, which since last Saturday is in a new phase of vaccination, continues, according to national and international organizations, at a slow pace of vaccination against Covid-19, compared to the rest of South American countries.
In this new phase, in which the Government assures that it is moving towards “mass vaccination”, inoculation points have been multiplied in all the country’s states – in some of which there are long queues and up to 8 hours of waiting – to accelerate the process.
The total number of vaccines available in the country is unknown, as the figures vary depending on the official providing the information, as well as the number of people who have been vaccinated in the national computation.
