Brazil debuts at 2020 Tokyo Olympics surfing with wins in heats

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Two Brazilians reached the round of 16 in men's surfing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Saturday, 24. Ítalo Ferreira won the sport's first heat at an Olympics with 13.67 points in the competition held at Tsurugasaki Beach. Gabriel Medina competed in the last heat of the day and also won first place, with 12.23 points overall.

For surfing, it is the first year at the Olympics, just like for skateboarding. In men's skateboarding, the Brazilian representatives are Kelvin Hoefler, Felipe Gustavo, and Giovanni Vianna.
