Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldinho’s mother dies after coronavirus struggle

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Barcelona and Brazil legend's mother, Miguelina, went into hospital after contracting Covid-19 in December. But now the 71-year-old has sadly passed away, on Saturday February 20th.

Lionel Messi - who was Ronaldinho's friend and protégé when the Argentine was an emerging talent at Camp Nou - shared a heartfelt message of support via Instagram.

"Ronnie, I have no words. I can't believe it," said Messi. "Just sending you a lot of strength and a big hug for you and the whole family. I'm very sorry. Rest in peace."
