Argentina reports 14,632 new cases and 438 Covid deaths (July 21)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRASIL – Argentina reported on Wednesday 14,632 new cases of the SARS-CoV-2, bringing the total number of positives to 4,798,851. At the same time, deaths rose to 102,818 after 438 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

The figures reveal a decrease compared to the positives recorded on Tuesday when 15,077 cases were reported.

Argentina registered a daily record number of cases on May 27, when 41,080 infections were reported, while the highest number of deaths in a single day was verified on June 21, with 792 deaths on that day.

In the province of Buenos Aires, 4,118 cases were reported on Wednesday, while in the central province of Cordoba, 1,935 positive cases were recorded; in the province of Santa Fe (center), 1,298 cases were reported, and in the capital of Argentina, 758 cases were registered.

According to the official report, there are 4.43 million patients who have already been discharged, while the number of people with a confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19 who remain admitted to intensive care units was 4,583 this Wednesday,down from the record of 7,969 of last June 14.

The occupancy rate of intensive care beds for all types of pathologies is 59.3% at a national level and 57% if only Buenos Aires and its populous periphery are considered.

So far, 18.5 million tests have been carried out in Argentina to detect the virus, of which 88,539 were performed this Wednesday.

While trying to leave behind the second wave of Covid-19, Argentina, with some 45 million inhabitants, continues with its vaccination campaign against the coronavirus, which began at the end of last December.

According to official data released on Wednesday, so far, 28.2 million doses have been applied. 22.6 million people received the first dose of the vaccine, while 5.7 million people have already been inoculated with the second dose.
