Brazil sets new record with 1,910 Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours (March 3rd)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – For the second straight day Brazil registered a record number of Covid-19 deaths. In the past 24 hours, the country recorded 1,910 deaths from the disease, according to official data from the Ministry of Health. This brings the total number of deaths caused by the novel coronavirus to 259,271.

Confirmed cases total 10,718,630 according to the balance as of 6 PM on Wednesday, with 71,704 infections in the last 24 hours. It was the second highest daily record of pandemic cases (the first was on January 7th, with 87,800 cases).

According to the Ministry, a total of 9,591,590 patients have recovered from the disease and 867,769 are under follow-up.

São Paulo is the state with the most Covid-19 deaths (60,381) and confirmed cases (2,068,616). Minas Gerais comes in second place with the most cases (893,645) and Rio de Janeiro is second with the most deaths (33,362).
