Brazil Records 1,577,004 Cases of Covid-19 (July 4th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to the bulletin released late yesterday afternoon, July 4th, by the Ministry of Health, Brazil has so far recorded 1,577,004 cases of Covid-19. Of these, 64,265 cases have resulted in death – 1,091 were registered in the past 24 hours. The number of people who have recovered stands at 876,359.

Among the states, São Paulo still accounts for the highest number of cases to date, 312,530; followed by Ceará (120,952) and Rio de Janeiro (120,440). In terms of the number of deaths, however, Rio de Janeiro is ahead of Ceará with 10,624, the latter accounting for 6,411 fatalities to date, while São Paulo records the highest figure, with 15,996 deaths.

Among the states with the fewest cases, Mato Grosso do Sul is the lowest, with 9,910 cases and 114 deaths, followed by Tocantins, with 12,282 cases and 215 deaths.

Despite the national figures, several cities are studying the gradual return to routine. In the city of São Paulo, Mayor Bruno Covas has signed protocols for the reopening of bars, restaurants, aesthetics, and beauty salons in the city.

In Rio de Janeiro, the reopening of bars took many people to the streets on Thursday, the first day of their opening. On Friday, July 3rd, after punitive measures, the city’s establishments took steps to reduce crowds. In the Federal District, Governor Ibaneis Rocha signed a decree with a schedule for opening bars and schools. The Federal District has so far recorded 55,760 infections and 671 deaths.
