Brazil Accumulates 3.3 Million Cases and 107,232 Deaths by Covid-19 (August 15th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil has reached 107,232 deaths by Covid-19, according to the Ministry of Health’s update released on Saturday, August 15th.

In the past 24 hours, 709 new deaths were recorded by the state Health Secretariats. On Friday, August 14th, the portfolio’s system recorded 106,523 deaths from the pandemic.

The total number of cases stands at 3,317,096. Between Friday and Saturday, 41,576 new infections were reported. On Friday, the Ministry of Health’s system had counted 3,275,520 people with Covid-19.

According to the daily update, the lethality rate (deaths among the total infected) of the disease stood at 3.2 percent. The data also showed that 805,592 patients are currently under follow-up. Another 2,404,272 have already recovered.

In terms of geographical distribution of the total number of deaths, the states with the most deaths are São Paulo (26,780), Rio de Janeiro (14,526), Ceará (8,129), Pernambuco (7,156), and Pará (5,932).
