Brazil registers lowest number of deaths from Covid-19 in past four months (June 28)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil, one of the countries hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic, registered the lowest number of daily deaths from Covid-19 in the last four months by reporting 618 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 514,092 fatalities, the Government reported on Monday.

According to the most recent bulletin from the Ministry of Health, this is the lowest number of daily deaths in the last four months, since 527 deaths from the virus were reported on February 21 in the South American country.

As for the number of infections, the portfolio said that the positives already add up to 18,448,402 cases, after having recorded 27,804 new infections in the last day.

The figures are usually lower on weekends and Mondays, due to the lack of personnel to process the data, which usually normalizes on Tuesdays.

However, the daily averages of fatalities and confirmed cases of Covid-19 are located this Monday at 1,644 and 68,796, which represents a 19.8% drop in deaths and a 6.3% drop, in positives, in the latter week.

Since last May, the country has experienced a growing trend of infections that some health experts have framed within a third pandemic wave. However, in recent days there has been a drop in numbers and hospitalizations for the virus.

Despite this, experts insist on not lowering their guard, since the number of infections and deaths in the country is still high.

Brazil is the country in the world with the second most fatal victims from Covid-19, after the United States, and the thirdmost in number of infections, behind the US and India.
