Brazil sees record 3,869 COVID-19 deaths, health ministry says (March 31st)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Brazil on Wednesday reported a daily record of 3,869 new COVID-19 deaths, with 90,638 new coronavirus cases in the prior 24 hours, the health ministry said.

On Tuesday, the country recorded 3,780 registered deaths. With the new victims added to the statistics, the total number of lives lost to the pandemic reached 321,515. Yesterday, the total was 317,646.

There are still 3,495 deaths under investigation by health teams. This is because there are cases where the diagnosis about the cause only comes out after the patient's death.
