Brazil’s Ministry of Health decides to cancel Sputnik V vaccine purchase contract

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - As should be the case with Covaxin, the Ministry of Health will terminate the contract for the purchase of 10 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. The announcement is pending only the completion of the required legal analysis.

The government intends to argue that the immunizer failed to be approved by the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA), one of the contract's demands, which had União Química as intermediary.
