Brazil´s Rondônia State Extends Restriction on Movement of People to Saturday

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Rondônia government has extended social isolation measures in force since the past January 17th until next Saturday, January 30th, maintaining the ban on the circulation of people between 8 PM and 6 AM in cities in Phases 1 and 2 of the Todos Por Rondônia Plan.

Published today, January 27th, state decree 25.754 extends the curfew and other restrictive measures implemented to contain the rise in Covid-19 cases for four additional days, such as the ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages between 7 PM and 6 AM.

Furthermore, the operation of resorts, nightclubs, concert halls and the like and the holding of private parties (irrespective of the phase of the plan in which the municipality finds itself), collective recreational activities, including the practice of sports in general and any activity on public roads that causes crowds continue to be banned.

On the other hand, the new decree allows the transport of passengers through service apps, as well as authorized cabs and motor-taxis, between 6 AM and 7 PM, i. e., out of curfew time. Vehicles may only carry more than two passengers if they belong to a single family, and all must wear masks. Intercity buses will operate at 50% passenger capacity, at any time.

Pharmacies, supermarkets, butchers, bakeries, warehouses and establishments that sell food should restrict attendance to 40% of total capacity, which should be advised at the entrance, at a visible location.

The decree also extends the authorization for public servants and employees to continue working from home, whenever possible.

According to the epidemiological report released by the State Health Surveillance Agency (AGEVISA) late yesterday afternoon, Rondônia now records 119,336 confirmed cases of the disease since the presence of the novel coronavirus was confirmed in Brazil in late February 2020.

Over the same period, 2,149 deaths were recorded as a result of complications caused by Covid-19. At least 1,768 people were waiting for test results to determine if they were infected and 558 were hospitalized until last night.
